How do I get from Male to Thoddoo? | Forum

My wife and I are flying to the Maldives for the first time in the next few days. We’ll first arrive in the capital, Male, and from there we’ll need to make our own way to Thoddoo Island. We’re planning the trip ourselves without any tour operators, so we’ve already booked a beachfront cottage on Thoddoo and will have to get there on our own. What’s the easiest way to do this from Male?

The Maldives are absolutely amazing. It’s truly a paradise. The key is to go when it’s not the rainy season, otherwise you might end up stuck in your cottage for the whole vacation. I haven’t been there myself, but my brother couldn’t stop talking about his trip. He said that from the airport, they took seaplanes to reach their resort.

Although prices in the Maldives for everyday expenses and tourist activities are quite low, traveling between islands by seaplane can be rather expensive. On the other hand, you can take a boat as a cheaper alternative. Check the schedule for the speedboat from Male to Thoddoo here: https://relaxresidencemaldives.com/...on/transfer-details/ . It can take you directly from the airport to Thoddoo Island for much less than a seaplane.

In Male, there are many private boat operators who can take you to whichever island you need on their boats, speedboats, or other small watercraft, day or night. The main thing is to avoid storms in the ocean. Once you’re there, I think you’ll be able to figure things out just fine.
