The old adage a week is a long time in politics will likely be ringing in Collen Warners ears as he made his way to join up with his new teammates at BMO Field Friday morning. Derek Jeter Yankees Jersey .  For a player who started all nine league games this season, often out of his central midfield holding role to an attacking berth out on the flank, the last image Impact supporters are left with is of the long walk to the locker room for Warner following his red card against the MLS Champs last Saturday afternoon at Saputo Stadium. We all know how that game finished. A fifth league defeat in a season that appears to be getting further away from a club which is desperate to make amends for how their 2013 campaign ended. For a team that less than 72-hours earlier had lost to Edmonton, a team at the bottom of the NASL standings, the Sporting KC defeat compounded the misery that has engulfed the club. Joey Saputo let it be known changes would be coming. His tweet last Saturday was delivered even before the rest of Warners teammates had made it back to the safety of the locker room. Where they would discover Sunday morning training had been added to the weekly itinerary. Blake Smiths loan to NASLs Indy 11 announced Tuesday was a cue the club were on the search for a wide attacking midfielder. The splendid form to date of Justin Mapp has magnified how inadequate the teams options are on the wing, as did using Warner out wide. Trading for Nakajima-Farran immediately addresses this. Warner has faced undue criticism this season. When all he did was do what was asked of him. Used sparingly in a starting role by Schällibaum, his elevated playing role this term led to some even questioning the relationship between Warner and his head coach. Similar to April 4ths trade which saw Andrew Wenger depart for the Union, the consensus is that Impact Sporting Director, Nick De Santis has pulled off another favourable trade. The allocation money going Montreals way certainly sweetens the pot. Returning to league play Saturday evening after the bye week and on the back of Wednesdays fun and games in the return leg against Edmonton, provides the Impact with the chance to get only their second win of the season. Worryingly Di Vaio, who spent Wednesday evening watching the game from the pitch stood just behind the Impact bench, has still not fully recovered from a hamstring strain which he first suffered back on April 19th in the away game against Sporting KC. He is doubtful for the game in DC. A game which will reunite the Impact with their old club captain Davy Arnaud, whose contact was not renewed by the Impact at the conclusion of last season.  Revitalized since DC acquired him, Arnaud has played a significant part for a club that is only two wins away from surpassing their entire point total from the 2013 season.  Not one who would ever describe himself as the most gifted technically, the Impact has certainly missed his tireless work rate. Arnauds dedication to the cause is a clear illustration of something else the team has sorely lacked as the Impact sit firmly rooted to bottom place in the conference. Another player who will not lack in motivation Saturday is Eddie Johnson, who was spurned by Jürgen Klinsmann when he announced a 30-man USMNT World Cup roster on Monday. Johnson more than anyone will not need reminding of his eight game scoreless run since been traded from Seattle to DC is hardly the form befitting of a player who scored many crucial goals during World Cup qualification. DC, who overhauled their squad in the off season following a woeful 2013, is the surprise package in the league this season and would signify a significant scalp for the Impact. To do so the Impact will certainly have to overcome the set piece jitters which have plagued them all season. Defensively they will have to be as they were in their solitary win so far and Justin Mapp will have to yet again carry the attacking threat. On Wednesday evening at Saputo Stadium just before kickoff rather aptly a "Through Thick and Thin" banner was unveiled in the stands. Patience has been tested, perseverance is now required. He was with the New York Jets in 2011 when the NFL locked out their players after they failed to agree on a new contract. Willy went undrafted but was given a look by four NFL teams before heading north. Thurman Munson Jersey . This weeks topics include his take on the Kevin Pillar incident, All-Star snubs, the firing of Padres general manager Josh Byrnes and more.NEW YORK -- Alfredo Simon making his first start in more than two years. Manny Parra stepping into the closers spot. Turns out, all the Cincinnati Reds needed for a win in New York was a little role reversal. Simon pitched seven impressive innings and began the go-ahead rally with his second career hit and Parra got the final six outs for his first career save, helping the Reds beat the Mets 2-1 Sunday to salvage a win in the three-game series. "At the end of the game I didnt even really know what to do," Parra said. "It was awesome." Joey Votto had a sacrifice fly and Ryan Ludwick a tiebreaking single off Jonathon Niese (0-1), who was making his first start of the season after a being slowed by shoulder and elbow injuries this spring. Simon (1-0) made 99 relief appearances for the Reds since his previous start, on Sept. 28, 2011, for Baltimore, but manager Bryan Price tapped the right-hander because Mat Latos is rehabbing from knee and elbow operations. Price said Simon is one of the most durable guys on the staff and had no problem letting him go deep into the game. He lifted Simon for the left-handed Parra to start the eighth after allowing just four hits and throwing 79 pitches. "I was thinking I was a starter before and this is a good opportunity for me, and I tried to show the best I can," Simon said after his 20th career start. "Everything worked." Parra made 74 starts for the Brewers before switching to relief work in 2010. He retired all six batters he faced, pitching the ninth instead of J.J. Hoover, who gave up Ike Davis walkoff grand slam Saturday. Parra struck out Davis to end the Reds second win of the season then stood atop the mound for a moment before pounding his glove and walking toward catcher Brayan Pena. "Cant ask for any more for Simon and Manny Parra," Price said. Niese was nearly as effective in his debut, allowing six hits and two runs in 5 2-3 innings in front of dozens of dogs at Citi Field on Bark in the Park day. "I feel good, felt like the ball was coming out of my hand pretty well, obviously didnt have any pain," Niese said. The Mets, though, wasted an opportunity to compllete a sweep ahead of a nine-game road trip that begins in Atlanta on Tuesday. Yankees Jersey From China. The Mets finished their first homestand of the season 2-4. Simon took the mound in a game for the first time since March 24 but there was little rust. After an easy first for Simon, Davis slashed a sharp one-out grounder the opposite way down the third base line, a spot vacated by the pull shift, for a double. Davis scored on Juan Lagares single for a 1-0 lead. An inning later, Simon walked Niese and Eric Young Jr. doubled to left-centre with one out. But Daniel Murphy and David Wright struck out, starting a run of 10 in a row that ended when Simon hit Wright with a pitch. Simon started the Reds go-ahead rally in the sixth by lacing a line drive over Murphys head. Chris Heisey, in the lineup for Billy Hamilton, who has a jammed left middle finger, and Brandon Phillips each singled to load the bases. Votto followed with a sacrifice fly and Ludwick the tiebreaking hit, a single to left for a 2-1 lead. "The way he kept his sinker down and the fact he got a base hit, it was very exciting," Pena said of Simon. "He got us going." Jay Bruce grounded to first base, ending Nieses day on his 90th pitch. Gonzalez Germen relieved and pitched around Todd Frazier to face Zack Cosart with the bases loaded. Cosart grounded out to extend his hitless start to 0 for 18. Cosart then flew out to right field in the ninth. NOTES: Simon singled last season against Pittsburgh. ... Phillips has a hit in all 29 games hes played against the Mets in New York. ...
