The former Giants starter joins a pretty full room of guards that includes players like Clint Boling, John Miller, Alex Redmond, Christian Westerman, Michael Jordan and Rod Taylor. You can also include names like Cordy Glenn and Trey Hopkins since both players will likely have shots at guard spots in the upcoming season as well. It is a little bit confusing as to why the Bengals would add Jerry to the group. He has spent hardly anytime at offensive tackle during his eight years of playing in the league, so he isn’t really a versatile depth option. He didn’t play last season, and he will be 33-years-old in a few days on June 14th.Jerry had a respectable grade of just above 70 during the 2017 season with the Giants. That isn’t exactly great, but you can never have too many guys competing for depth spots.While we are at it, it seems the odds are very much stacked against Jerry to even make the team. Even if the Bengals part ways with Clint Boling, which has been a rumored possibility since there have been discussions of moving Glenn to guard Andy Dalton Jersey , Jerry’s chances of making the roster are still minimal. You would imagine some combination that includes Glenn, Miller, Westerman, Jordan or Boling make the final roster with Hopkins being considered a backup center. It would be hard to imagine Jerry taking a spot over any of those players.At worst, Jerry is another guy to rotate in during the long grueling days of the offseason programs. At best, he surprises everyone and steals a spot at the end of the depth chart, but even then he is bumping a couple players who probably have a brighter future than a 33-year-old who may only play for a season or two.What do you think of the Bengals signing?
