QuickBooks Showing Error Codes: -6189, -816 OR incapable of open company file?Whenever you are working on the QuickBooks Error 6189, 816 and error saying “Error Code -6190, -816 shows, it means the QuickBooks was not able to open the file [companyfilename] on the host”. Error Codes: (-6189 , -816 )

A. Open Windows Explorer on your pc and select the folder by which your company file is based.


B. Right click the folder and select Properties > Security tab.

D. click the Allow check box to take Full Control of this user that must access the company file.


E. click on the Apply button and then OK.


In case the computer is being accessed remotely by software like Teamviewer, GoToMyPC etc.


A. Select Task Manager by Right click the TaskBar.


B. Go to the Processes Tab.


C. Check out if the Processes is showing a process running as being in use of a disconnected server.


D. In case the remote user is shown due to the fact owner of the running process, Restart your pc.
