North Melbourne legend Wayne Carey warns Drew Petries stellar AFL career is
about to end unless he can turn his form around.
Chris Taylor Jersey .Petries performance has
become a media focus as a once-promising season for North continues to
plummet. After opening with a nine-game winning streak, North have lost six of
their last seven matches. They hold eighth spot, two games ahead of Port Adelaide
and St Kilda, and have a tough run over the next six weeks. They next play
Collingwood in a crucial Friday night match at Etihad Stadium.Petrie has not
kicked a goal for the last two matches and has only kicked 19 so far this
season. The 309-game key forward, a popular and respected figure in the game, is
out of contract at the end of the season and has said he wants to keep
playing. But Carey is doubtful that will happen unless Petrie quickly turns his
form around.I think definitely Drew Petrie wont go on - I wouldnt have thought
so off the back of this year, Carey told Channel Sevens Talking Footy on Monday
night.Clearly hes got six games to prove everyone wrong, and also hopefully a
couple of finals, but right now youd be saying he definitely wont be going
on.Over the weekend, Carey called for Petrie to be dropped and former Brisbane
star Jonathan Brown agreed, saying the North spearheads form was horrible.Carey,
a two-time Kangaroos premiership captain, also wants North coach Brad Scott to
try some positional moves in a bid to turn their form around.Hes got to be brave
right now and hes got to do it now because in two or three weeks, its too late,
Carey said.He said the `Roos should either drop Petrie or try him in the ruck.

Dovizioso won his first MotoGP race in seven years on Sunday, pulling away from
Valentino Rossi late in the Malaysia Grand Prix to take the checkered flag for
Ducati. Starting on pole, Dovizioso fell back early as a number of riders
appeared to struggle with a rain-soaked track, but he steadily reeled in his
Italian compatriot Rossi, retaking the lead with six laps to go and quickly
opening up a gap as Rossi was slowed by tyre issues.Dovizioso, 30, finished
3.115s ahead of Rossi for his maiden win of the season and first since 2009.
Rossi, meanwhile, clinched second place in the 2016 world championship over his
Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo, who finished third at the Sepang International

Kenley Jansen Jersey. 9. No contract. Well,
it was in 2009, a long time, said Dovizioso. Its really nice to come to this
moment. In these conditions I struggled a lot in the race and had some problems,
but I really wanted it.Much of the race was a gripping duel between Rossi and
Doviziosos Ducati team-mate Andrea Iannone, who was returning to the track for
the first time since he suffered a vertebrae fracture in a crash in early
September. After Rossi snatched the lead early, it repeatedly changed hands
between him and Iannone over the first 10 laps as they aggressively dived under
each other with inches to spare on Sepangs tight curves. But when Iannone crashed
out on lap 12, Dovizioso pounced, quickly overtaking Rossi, stretching a sizable
lead and holding on for the win. ' ' '
