The Giants originally signed Okwara as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame before the 2016 season. He was largely buried on their depth chart that year, until Jason Pierre-Paul suffered a sports hernia and was lost for the season. Okwara got the start in Pierre-Paul’s place, racking up five total tackles and a sack in a break-out game against the Dallas Cowboys.
