FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Ultra Boost Discount . -- Mike Anderson had plenty of good will with Arkansas fans when he was hired in 2011, thanks to his time as an assistant coach during the schools glory days. Those 17 years next to former coach Nolan Richardson, including the 1994 national championship, never seemed as far away as they did during last season when Arkansas finished 16-16.Thats why, in an attempt to reclaim some of that good will lost over the course of five seasons with only one NCAA Tournament appearance, Anderson brought in an influx of top junior-college talent this year to go along with Southeastern Conference preseason Player of the Year Moses Kingsley .Whether the additions of guards Jaylen Barford and Daryl Macon, along with forward Arlando Cook, are enough to return the Razorbacks to their 27-win level of two seasons ago is unclear. But its a start. The thing that excites me is weve got more pieces now, Anderson said. Pieces to the puzzle that fit what we want to do.Arkansas spent much of last season unable to recover from the early departures of former SEC Player of the Year Bobby Portis and All-SEC performer Michael Qualls. This season, the Razorbacks hope to mesh quickly around Kingsley, who considered leaving for the NBA before deciding to come back for his final season. The 6-foot-10 Nigerian center emerged from Portis shadow last season to average 15.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, and he had an early glimpse of his new teammates during a 10-day, four-game team trip to Spain over the summer. He liked what he saw, just as Arkansas fans hope the same in Andersons sixth season.I feel like the team has help now, Kingsley said. Some other things to watch as Arkansas attempts to return to the NCAA Tournament after missing it last season:HOT-SHOOTING HANNAHSKingsley isnt the only top returner for the Razorbacks, with sharp-shooter Dusty Hannahs also back after leading the team with 16.5 points per game last season. The senior was fifth in the SEC in 3-point percentage last season, hitting 43.3 percent from behind the arc, and said he absolutely expects Arkansas to return to the NCAA Tournament this season.DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENTThe Razorbacks were 247th in the country last season while allowing opponents to average 74.7 points per game. Not surprisingly, defensive improvement has been a point of emphasis for Anderson -- who is counting on better perimeter defense with Barford and Macon, along with junior Anton Beard. We have to make teams uncomfortable with the basketball, Anderson said.POINT DUTYFormer Arkansas point guard Jabril Durham graduated after leading the Razorbacks with an average of 6.4 assists per game last season, and Anderson expects the 6-foot-3 Barford to try and take over that position of lead playmaker. Barford averaged a national-best 26.3 points per game in junior college last season, but he also averaged 5.1 assists per game two years ago and has good passing ability.BEARDS RETURNBeard played in 23 games last season, but he never appeared fully comfortable after missing the first semester following his arrest on forgery charges. The junior has stayed out of troubles way this year, and Anderson is counting on the guard to return to his All-SEC freshman form of two years ago -- when he averaged 5.8 points per game.THOMAS DEBUTThe power forward position was a prime weakness for Arkansas last season, and Anderson hopes 6-foot-8 Colorado transfer Dustin Thomas can help fill that void. Thomas averaged 4.4 points per game as a sophomore with the Buffaloes two seasons ago, and he was second on the Razorbacks in rebounding during their four games in Spain this summer. The (11-11-4) Jets are seventh in the Central Division with 26 points.  Fifth place Dallas and sixth-seeded Nashville also have 26 points, but the Stars have three games in hand on Winnipeg while Nashville has two. Wilson hit Schenn from behind during Tuesday nights game in Philadelphia, earning a five-minute major for charging and a game misconduct. He has a phone hearing with the department of player safety, which limits any potential suspension to five or fewer games. NEW YORK -- Evan Longoria homered twice. Matt Moore pitched impressively into the seventh inning. From Desmond Jennings to Yunel Escobar, there were contributions throughout the Tampa Bay lineup. Thats how manager Joe Maddon imagined this pesky club would perform all year. "Thats the way its supposed to look like," Maddon said after the Rays sent the New York Yankees to their seventh loss in nine game, 8-3 Thursday night. Longoria reached 500 career RBIs with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. He connected against Andy Pettitte (5-5) leading off the sixth and again off Joba Chamberlain to open the eighth. Escobar hit a two-run shot off Boone Logan later in the eighth as the Rays won a second straight after losing six of seven. "Weve had some tough losses in the past week but the guys hung in there really well," Maddon said. "Its going to be the roller coaster AL East all summer." Tampa Bay had 14 hits after amassing 15 in a 6-2 win over Boston on Wednesday night. The 24-year-old Moore (9-3) snapped a three-start skid. The lefty opened the season 8-0 before yielding 20 runs over 12 1-3 innings in three starts this month. He blanked the Yankees until the sixth when two walks and a single loaded the bases with no outs. A wild pitch scored one run, Robinson Cano had a sacrifice fly and Travis Hafner followed with an RBI grounder that pulled the Yankees to 4-3. "Things were going well until the sixth inning," Moore said. "That was kind of the makey or breaky type of moment where its either going to be a five-run inning with Robbie Cano up, bases loaded, no outs. Or you could keep the team in the game the way we were able to." Moore then got an out in the seventh before being lifted following Lyle Overbays ground-rule double to left field, only the fourth hit he allowed. Jose Lobaton opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the second following a wild pitch by Pettitte. Ben Zobrist had an RBI single in the third in the Rays first visit to the Bronx this year. Jennings and Sean Rodriguez had consecutive two-out doubles in the seventh to chase Peettitte, making his first start as a 41-year-old -- his birthday was Saturday. Cheap Ultra Boost. "For me its another frustrating night," Pettitte said. "We come back and score three runs and I go out there and give them right back. Joe (Girardi) trusts me to get out of the inning and I cant get Rodriguez out. I need to be able to shut these guys down." Jennings put Pettitte in trouble on the first pitch of the game, hitting a double that landed on the left-field line for his first of his three hits. The Rays started the third with three straight singles. Jennings led off with a single and went to second when the ball scooted under centre fielder Brett Gardners glove for an error. After Rodriguez singled, Zobrist, who came in 9 for 22 (.409) against Pettitte, drove in Jennings with a single. Longorias sacrifice fly made it 3-0 and gave the All-Star third baseman 500 RBIs in 710 games, eighth quickest to reach the mark in major league history. "Its a pretty good amount of RBIs. Its something Im pretty proud of," Longoria said. "Hopefully therell be a ton more." In 6 2-3 innings, Pettitte gave up five runs and nine hits. He has given up 14 runs in four starts since returning from the disabled list June 3.
