The NFL isn’t merely being criticized by pandering politicians or labor unions who weren’t consulted on their anthem policy “compromise Charles Harris Jersey ,” they’re catching it from other sports as well.

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr blasted the NFL for its decision to mandate that players stand for the anthem or stay in the locker room, calling it “typical” of the way football does business.

鈥淭hey鈥檙e basically trying to use the anthem as fake patriotism, nationalism, scaring people,鈥?Kerr said, via Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle. 鈥淚t鈥檚 idiotic, but that鈥檚 how the NFL has handled their business. I鈥檓 proud to be in a league that understands patriotism in America is about free speech Lee Smith Jersey , peacefully protesting.

鈥淚 think our leadership in the NBA understands that the NFL players were kneeling to protest police brutality, to protest racial inequality. They weren鈥檛 disrespecting the flag or the military. Our President decided to make it about that and the NFL followed suit and pandered to their fan base.

鈥淭hat created this hysterical, . . . It鈥檚 kind of what鈥檚 wrong with our country right now. People in high places are trying to divide us, divide loyalties and make this about the flag, as if the flag is something other than what it really is.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a representation of what we鈥檙e about 鈥?diversity, peaceful protest, right to free speech. It鈥檚 really ironic Justin Ellis Jersey , actually, what the NFL is doing.鈥?/p>

The NBA also requires players to stand for the anthem, but professional basketball has also operated from a position of trust with its labor force, and a track record of social involvement and willingness to take stands. The NBA also consulted with players when formulating their anthem policy, which seemed to go a long way with labor.

Kerr and the Warriors are also used to sticking it to the man, as their invitation to the White House for winning last year’s NBA title was rescinded聽by Donald Trump after a number of players said they wouldn’t go. Kerr also referred to Trump as a “blowhard,” which gives him something in common with at least one NFL owner.

When the NFL announced Gene Steratore’s retirement as a referee last week Earl Thomas III Jersey , there was a report that Steratore would join CBS as a rules analyst for the 2018 season.

That became official on Tuesday and Steratore’s job with the network will extend beyond the NFL. Steratore also spent the last 20 years as a college basketball referee, primarily in the Big Ten, and the network announced that he will also be a rules analyst for their coverage of those games.

“I’m excited to join CBS Sports and start the next chapter in my career,” Steratore said in a statement. “Officiating runs in my family. It started with my father, who refereed college football and basketball for more than three decades. I wanted to follow in his footsteps and began officiating when I was 19-years-old. I’ve had an amazing run, capped off by working the Super Bowl, but it’s time to hang up my whistle for a new challenge. This is an incredible opportunity to continue working on the two sports I love — NFL football and college basketball — and help viewers gain a better understanding of the rules of the game and how they are applied.”

Steratore will work from New York City during the NFL regular season outside of Thanksgiving Fran Tarkenton Jersey , when he will be in the broadcast booth. That will also be the case in the playoffs and for Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta in February. With CBS owning the rights to the Division I men’s basketball tournament, Steratore will also work the Final Four in his first year in his new job.
