The Case Keenum era lasted one year and now the Denver Broncos are going in a different direction. Reports are coming out that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has been traded to the Denver Broncos. The trade cannot be ratified until the new league year begins in March. The compensation has not be disclosed but Ian Rapoport says it’s a mid-round draft selection. The Ravens moved on from Flacco for rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson in the 2018 season. Given Jackson’s youth Tom Rathman Jersey White , rookie contract, and Baltimore’s decision to go to a more read-option/spread offense, Flacco’s days were numbered. Many San Francisco 49ers fans remember Flacco for being Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl 47, a Super Bowl the 49ers lost to the Ravens. Prior to 2018, Flacco had spent his entire career in Baltimore, being drafted with the 18th pick in the 2008 NFL draft. Case Keenum on the other hand went to Denver after a strong and surprising season with the Minnesota Vikings. Prior to the Vikings, Keenum found little success as a starter in his career.After starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater did not return from injury and backup Sam Bradford went down early, Keenum took the starting job and never looked back. The Vikings went to the NFC Championship in the 2017 season and would lose to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Following their exit, Keenum signed with the Broncos. After just one year, and a severe regression, Keenum’s fate is uncertain. Where this involves the 49ers is the need for a quarterback. The 49ers hold the second pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and the Broncos may have been looking for a quarterback. (AP) — San Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon was watching his teammates from a hotel just days after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery when he saw quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s knee buckle.McKinnon knew immediately what Garoppolo was enduring, having torn his own anterior cruciate ligament just three weeks earlier.“When you have an injury like this, a season-ending injury, there’s emotion that comes with it at first,” McKinnon said Wednesday. “When I saw the play that ended his season, I already knew what he was going through. For me and him to have somebody to go through that experience with and not be alone and push each other along the way will definitely help.”McKinnon reached out to Garoppolo as soon as the game in Kansas City ended on Sept. 23. McKinnon told him what his experience was like after getting hurt in practice on Sept. 1 and how he dealt with the pain and stiffness following surgery.Garoppolo had his surgery Wednesday to repair his left knee. Coach Kyle Shanahan said he didn’t know whether any additional damage needed to be repaired or whether Garoppolo would be recovered in time for the offseason program next spring.But he will have a partner in rehabilitation in McKinnon.“Jimmy’s a warrior,” McKinnon said. “I’m pretty sure that he has the same mindset I had in the whole situation and recovery process.
