Week 13 of the NFL regular season saw the slow destruction of logic and well-laid plans. David Bakhtiari Super Bowl Jersey .Some fantasy owners will squeeze into the playoffs praising the gamble they took on Malcolm Mitchell (eight catches for 82 yards). Others were knocked out in crushing defeat, forever cursing the goose egg put up by Marquess Wilson (no catches on one target after injuring his groin in the first quarter). A very unique group will be bounced with several Browns and Titans -- on a rare Week 13 bye -- forced to their benches. Those teams moving on face more chaos in the next few weeks, as NFL teams out of playoff contention try out younger players, decline to push injured starters, and generally cut loose with game plans and make stars out of former practice squadders.A LOOK WAY BACKIn Week 14 last year, Brock Osweiler threw for 308 yards, A.J. McCarron threw for 280 and two touchdowns, Brian Hartline had 107 receiving yards, Ted Ginn caught two touchdowns, and Isaiah Crowell had 145 rushing yards and two scores (he hadnt run for more than 75 yards all season). In short, weird things began happening as the season wound down, so fantasy players advancing to the wild card portion of their playoffs shouldnt be afraid to make some gut calls.A LOOK BACKSome of the late-season craziness began to blossom in Sundays games. For instance, Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton had been on a terrible run of fantasy disappointment, having thrown for over 300 yards just once in the previous nine games and having multiple passing touchdowns just twice in the entire season. The Eagles -- Daltons Week 13 opponent -- had given up the eighth-fewest points to opposing quarterbacks and 10th-fewest passing yards.Naturally, Dalton went out and threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns. Fantasy players brave enough to start Brandon LaFell in their lineups were rewarded with five receptions on seven targets for 95 yards and a touchdown. And rookie Tyler Boyd -- everyones darling when A.J. Green went down -- contributed four receptions for 66 yards. The Bengals get the Browns in Week 14, and while logic screams, start all Bengals while theyre hot (even possibly including Gio Bernard replacement Rex Burkhead, who caught four passes for 28 yards), expect the Browns to have game-planned all bye break for the Bengals in hopes of getting their first win.TIGHT ENDS GO WILD ON SUNDAYDennis Pitta had two touchdowns. Ladarius Green had 110 yards and a touchdown on six receptions (coming off a 67-yard game in Week 12). Cameron Brate had 86 yards and a touchdown. Travis Kelce caught eight passes for 140 yards. Zach Ertz, Tyler EIfert, and Ryan Griffin all scored. Week 13 was one for the tight ends, and it wouldnt be out of the question to see repeat performances over the next few weeks.Dont be surprised to see a decent amount of tight ends in fantasy flex spots in Week 14.MISCELLANEOUS- Mike Gillislee may have unexpectedly knocked millions of teams out of the playoff hunt, scoring two touchdowns on eight carries after being inactive in Week 12. LeSean McCoy, Buffalos starter, had 191 total yards on 24 touches.- In a stark example of fantasy and real life football not being in perfect harmony, fantasy players had been enjoying the fruits of Colin Kaepernicks ground game, as he averaged 62 rushing yards per game over the last six weeks. In some formats, he was the second-highest scoring quarterback over the last four weeks. And he was facing what should have been an easy opponent in the Bears. But Kaepernick was replaced by Blaine Gabbert in the fourth quarter after completing just one pass for four yards.- Two first-round fantasy picks have wreaked havoc on fantasy teams this season: Todd Gurley and Allen Robinson. They put the cherry on top of what likely became plenty of 4-9 or 5-8 teams with blah performances in Week 13: Gurley had 11 carries for 38 yards and two receptions for 9 yards, while Robinson had three catches on 10 targets for 31 yards.- DeAndre Hopkins, who started the season on a similarly disappointing path as Gurley and Robinson, caught three passes for 58 yards and a touchdown in the snow against the Packers. It probably doesnt make up for his previous six weeks, however, in which he didnt score a touchdown and averaged 54 yards per game.- A quick reminder: Tyrell Williams, playing with a torn labrum in his shoulder, caught two passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. He is superhuman.---This column was provided to The Associated Press by the Fantasy Sports Network, http://FNTSY.com Custom Packers Super Bowl Jerseys . -- Stanfords Kevin Danser knelt on one knee and hardly moved on the sideline as Michigan State celebrated its Rose Bowl victory and his Cardinal teammates made their way to the locker room. Nolan punched Oilers forward Jesse Joensuu in the jaw in front of the Kings goal during a scrum. https://www.packersrookiestore.com/Packers-Darnell-Savage-Jr-Jersey/ . That gave fans outside Joe Louis Arena another chance to ask for autographs from the 19-year-old whose stardom in the NHL has arrived earlier than most expected. Rise Up on paper appears to be the controlling speed in the $250,000 Delta Downs Mile on Saturday. His trainer, Tom Amoss, would welcome such a scenario. Its no secret what our strategy is going to be, Amoss said. Hes a horse that goes to the front and we want to take advantage of that. Thats going to be the plan, to go to the front and hopefully carry it all the way around. The Delta Mile is one of eight stakes on the $2.3 million Jackpot program in Vinton, La. The race also serves as the first leg of an all-stakes pick four on races 4-7. There is a $200,000 minimum guaranteed pool and a takeout rate of 12 percent. The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 65 degrees. Delta will have a first post of 1:45 p.m. Central, and the races will be streamed live on DRF.com.Rise Up, a 5-year-old millionaire by Rockport Harbor who races for Paul Van Doren, has been a Delta Downs star since he was 2. He won the tracks Jean Lafitte and Grade 3, $1 million Jackpot, and then returned last season to dominate a local allowance. Rise Up got the call for this years Delta Mile after registering a pair of authoritative wins, one in an allowance at Ellis Park, and then in the $100,000 Wild and Wonderful Stakes at Charles Town.Hes really had kind of a resurgence this summer, starting with the race at Ellis and carrying over to the race at Charles Town, Amoss said. They were races were used to seeing him run, that it took a while to get back to.Rise Ups record on the six-furlong oval at Delta is 3 for 5 with earnings of $773,800.He has an affinity for those tight turns, Amoss said. Hes very athletic on those turns.Javier Castellano has the mount on Rise Up, who will break from post 4 in a field of seven.Rise Up will face Great Minds, who is 2 for 2 at Delta. His wins include the $75,000 Borgata here in March, a race that served as his springboard to victory in the Grade 3, $200,000 Texas Mile at Lone Star Park.Fear the Cowboy is another who has won at Delta. He enters Saturdays race off a fourth-place finish to Noble Bird in the $175,000 Lukas Classic at Churchill Downs. Noble Bird went on to win the Grade 2 Fayette at Keeneland. Fear the Cowboy has been working regularly at Delta.Sammy Maandeville, who has placed in three stakes, invades from Southern California for W C Racing. Kevin King Super Bowl Jersey. Hes such an honest horse, said trainer Doug ONeill. Lately, the waters have been so deep we had to point him outside of Southern California. The game plan is to hopefully run really well Saturday, then have him stay back with Tom Amoss for a Midwest campaign. There are more options for him in the Midwest than in Southern California.* The second leg of the pick four is the $75,000 Sams Town, a seven-furlong race run around two turns. It is restricted to 3-year-olds and up who have never won a stakes. A field of 10 is set to start, led by The Truth Or Else. The Truth Or Else, who at 2 finished third in the Grade 1 Champagne at Belmont, enters Saturdays race in peak form. He took down an optional $100,000 claiming sprint at Keeneland on Oct. 23. Julien Leparoux was aboard the horse for the first time, and has the mount again Saturday. The Truth Or Else will break from post 3.Hes been a horse when we raised him [up into a stakes], he struggled with it, said trainer Ken McPeek. The restriction on this race is a big deal - horses that hadnt won a stakes yet. I also like the fact that hes got Julien back on him.One test, said McPeek, will be the two-turn configuration of the race. The Truth Or Elses last three wins have come in one-turn races.* In Kathballu, McPeek has the probable favorite in the $75,000 Orleans, the Sams Town counterpart for fillies and mares. She exits a fourth-place finish in the Grade 2 Chilukki at Churchill.* Steel Cut will be looking for her third stakes win of the year in the $200,000 Treasure Chest, a one-mile race for fillies and mares which goes with a field of five. Robby Albarado has the mount for trainer Wes Hawley.* The stakes action starts in the third with the $150,000 Louisiana Jewel, a mile race for 2-year-old fillies bred in Louisiana. The field includes stakes winner Chases Dixie Belle and the stakes-placed Jazz Lady and Big Game Baby.* The counterpart for 2-year-olds, the Louisiana Legacy, is led by Jack Snipes. ' ' '
