Could we see a British or Irish winner at the PGA Championship? We look at the challengers. Air Max Trainer Sale . Rory McIlroyRory McIlroys record in the PGA Championship is exemplary. Even in 2013, a miserable campaign by his own high standards, McIlroy finished eighth having challenged for the title on the final day at Oak Hill. Ways to watch How to watch the 98th PGA Championship Either side of 2013 he produced a runaway win at Kiawah Island and a hard-fought follow-up at Valhalla, while way back in 2009 he was third behind the battle between YE Yang and Tiger Woods. Often considered the fairest, most straightforward of the four majors, the PGA Championship allows McIlroy to use his key weapons and when hes able to do so, theres still a strong feeling that hes the best player in the sport. And so to Baltusrol, where heavy rain in the run-up to tee-off should make his driving a massive advantage. Fifth place at Troon was impressive enough against a draw bias, which suggests Rory is primed for his fifth major championship and he certainly looks the pick of the British and Irish challengers. McIlroy has posted inside the top-five in four of his past five starts Justin RoseNo Englishman has ever won the PGA Championship - at least not since it reverted to a stroke play tournament in 1958. Its a remarkable fact, but not one which should put you off 2013 US Open champion Justin Rose. The 35-year-old warmed up for Baltusrol with 22nd place in The Open, when finally able to declare himself fit following a back injury which had interrupted his preparations, and with two top-five finishes in the last four renewals of this event, Rose should be confident of a big week. Rose has yet to reach the winners circle this year The world No 11 has thrived on similar, old-fashioned courses in this part of the US and his tee-to-green supremacy will be a massive asset. Expect a sustained challenge.Danny WillettWhile Rose appears to be peaking just in time, Danny Willetts form has taken a dip since he won the Masters back in the spring.Hes still found it within himself to lead the Irish Open at the halfway stage and finish third in the BMW PGA Championship, but 37th at Oakmont and 53rd at Royal Troon are two major performances which fall below the standards hes set over the last 18 months. Sky Bets USPGA Odds Get SEVEN PLACES each-way on the outright market! Concerns around putting and learning to deal with the expectation which now follows him around remain and Willett, who has also become a father for the first time, remains one to swerve.Lee WestwoodLee Westwoods PGA Championship record isnt particularly strong, but he was 17th at Baltusrol in 2005 and that experience may count for plenty as others see the course for the first time.Plus, since finishing second in the Masters hes embarked on a remarkable run of consistency, just like the Westwood of old, which includes 32nd in the US Open and 22nd in The Open. Westwood came close at both the Masters and the US Open As such it seems logical to expect a strong week at a ball-strikers golf course even if winning may again prove beyond him.Shane LowryPerhaps we shouldnt be surprised that Shane Lowry has struggled since missing out on the US Open. Holding a clear lead with 18 holes remaining, Lowry was ultimately well beaten behind Dustin Johnson and is the type of character to be quite hard on himself as he strives to win at the highest level. Still, hell recover eventually and perhaps a return to the US and a tough, long course, one not dissimilar to Oakmont, will help. Lowry must bounce back from a missed cut at The Open but loves playing difficult tracks like this one and cant be ruled out.Andy SullivanWith six top-25 finishes in succession, Andy Sullivan is enjoying a fine summer which includes 23rd at the US Open and 12th at Troon. Now inside the Ryder Cup team as things stand, just a few more solid performances will seal his debut at Hazeltine in September and you can be sure Sullivan will be fully focused on whats been a long-term goal. Sullivan was a three-time winner on the European Tour last year As for how his skills match up to Baltusrol, Sullivans controlled fade off the tee helps him find plenty of fairways and thats a key asset with juicy, wet rough guarding the fairways. He missed the cut last year but has come a long way since then.Paul CaseyIts been a tough summer for Paul Casey, who has missed the cut in three of his last four events, the exception being the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, which did not have a cut.Coupled with the fact that hes never managed a top-10 finish in the PGA Championship and was 59th at Baltusrol in 2005, its easy to overlook a player who is searching for the form which helped him to fifth at the Tour Championship last season.Russell KnoxThe lone Scottish challenge comes from Russell Knox, who has bagged top-30 finishes at both the US Open and The Open.A resident of Jacksonville, Florida, Knox should be at home in these stateside majors but his PGA Championship record shows two missed cuts from as many attempts.Still, its hard to ignore the fact that hes a different player now, with a win in the locker just one step down from the highest level, and if he finds fairways and putts well, theres no obvious reason he cant contend.Andrew JohnstonOne of the stories of the summer, Andrew Beef Johnston is surely the value in Sky Bets top GB and Ireland market at 40/1, even if Justin Rose is the man most likely to throw down a sustained bid for the title. Andrew Beef Johnston talked about the high of walking up to the 18th hole at The Open Johnston has relished being thrust into the limelight thanks to a combination of a breakthrough win and his likeable persona, and the supposed distractions of the media dont appear to be preventing him from playing good golf.A top-10 finish at The Open earned him a place in this field and hes sure to welcome the opportunity, with his fairways-and-greens game seemingly well-suited to Baltusrol. What we shouldnt forget as Beef gains more attention is the reason hes here in the first place: hes a seriously talented player. Sky Bets USPGA Odds Seven places each-way plus many more markets here! Best of the restTyrrell Hatton is in fine form but it should be noted that so far hes looked an outstanding links player, so top-five finishes at Castle Stuart and Troon may not be all that relevant here. Hatton posted his career-best major performance at Troon Similar comments could apply to links-loving Chris Wood but his fitness is more of a concern, while Matt Fitzpatricks form has nosedived since his victory in Sweden. Graeme McDowell hasnt fired on all cylinders for some time but cant be underestimated as a major winner and the same applies to Padraig Harrington, the 2008 PGA champion whose form of late has offered some promise. Luke Donald may not be far from a return to form but needs to show more if hes to be considered a major player again and the same goes for Ross Fisher, although his performance at Bethpage in 2009 and superb driving makes him more interesting than some. Jamie Donaldson looks a long way from the star of the 2014 Ryder Cup while Bradley Dredge, Darren Clarke and James Morrison are hard to fancy.Watch the PGA Championship throughout the week live on Sky Sports 4 - your home of golf. And for the fourth time this season, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback guided his team to a late-game victory, the latest a 24-16 win over the Montreal Alouettes on Friday. Nic Grigsby ran 26 yards for a touchdown with just over two minutes left to lift Winnipegs record to 6-3, while Montreal (1-7) has now lost six straight games. "I definitely enjoy playing in the fourth quarters," Willy said. "I just try to stay calm, cool and collected. "I wish we would have played better in the first half." Willy completed 14-of-23 pass attempts for 200 yards, no TDs and one interception as Winnipeg ended a two-game losing streak. The teams didnt give the 29,881 fans at Investors Group Field much to cheer about in the first half, with Montreal taking a 6-1 lead into the break. But the second half was a see-saw battle with several lead changes. Grigsby capped off a six-play, 74-yard drive for the Blue Bombers that was helped when the Alouettes were called for pass interference. He finished with 10 carries for 73 yards, but was unavailable to reporters right after the game as he was selected for a random drug test. Winnipeg defensive back Maurice Leggett intercepted Montreal quarterback Jonathan Crompton with 1:44 left in the game, a pick upheld despite a challenge for a pass-interference call. Bombers kicker Lirim Hajrullahu then booted his third field goal of the game from 16 yards out to make it 24-16 at 14:07. Leggett had another interception -- his third of the game -- that he took to the end zone with 36 seconds left, but it was wiped out by a Bombers penalty. Alex Brink started at quarterback for Montreal, but Crompton replaced him in the second quarter. Alouettes head coach Tom Higgins told reporters the day before the game that all three of his QBs would get some playing time. Tanner Marsh went in the game in his usual short-yardage situation. "Its tough tonight," said Crompton, who was 18-of-29 for 266 yards, with no TDs and three interceptions. "No one in this locker-room really wants to lose this game. We didnt think we were going to lose this game. "Thats the good thing about this team, we always feel we can win every week. Weve just got to come back and correct it and go from there." Bombers head coach Mike OShea said there was no doubt on the sidelines that the team could come oout ahead on the lead changes. Yeezy 350 Cleat Sale. "They came out and they decided they wanted to get after it in the second half," OShea said of his players. "Special teams sparked it, they got it going." The first touchdown of the game was scored early in the third quarter when Bombers defensive back Don Unamba blocked a Sean Whyte punt. Winnipeg defensive back Derek Jones scooped the ball up at the one-yard line and ran in for the TD at 1:01 for the 8-6 lead. After Montreal went two and out on the next series, Whytes punt was returned 65 yards by Troy Stoudermire to Montreals 14-yard line. Willy then threw an incomplete pass and ran short on the following play, leaving Hajrullahu to attempt a 21-yard field goal. The ball hit the upright and Winnipeg retained its 8-6 lead with 11:05 left in the third quarter. Montreal was denied on third down with two yards to go and turned the ball over with just over six minutes in the quarter, but the Bombers couldnt do anything with the gift. It was all running back Tyrell Sutton in the Alouettes first touchdown drive. Crompton threw a pass to Sutton that he took down the sidelines for a 71-yard gain. He also ran for six yards and caught an 11-yard pass before he was hurt and went to the sidelines for a few series. The Als took the spot Sutton got them to at Winnipegs five-yard line and ended up scoring with quarterback Tanner Marshs one-yard run at 13:28 for the 13-8 lead. Hajrullahu then booted field goals from 22 and 24 yards to give Winnipeg the 14-13 lead with 9:12 to go in the game. But Montreal regained the lead after an eight-play, 61-yard drive capped by Whytes 21-yard field goal with 4:18 left. Whyte made three field goals and one attempt hit the upright. With 2:37 left and Winnipeg facing third down, Montreal was called for pass interference, leading to Grigsbys TD. "You just have to show resilience as a team and make sure that you continue to chip away at the opposition and make sure that youre doing the simple things right," Winnipeg offensive lineman Glenn January said. "I think that we shot ourselves in the foot several times with fumbles and dropped balls." The Bombers will be tested in their next two games, back-to-back tilts against Saskatchewan in the Labour Day Classic and at home the next week in the Banjo Bowl. Montreal hosts Ottawa and then Hamilton in the East Divisions tight race. ' ' '
