PRL-8-53, the newest nootropic, also known by its chemical name Methyl 3-[2-[benzyl(methyl)amino]ethyl]benzoate is a synthetic nootropic supplement. It was developed in the 1970′s by Dr. Nikolaus Hansl at Creighton University in Nebraska. It has had some human studies which showed positive responses in cognitive function. One study showed that the compound could help retrieve lost memories (hypermnesia).PRL-8-53 powder
HOW DOES PRL-8-53 WORK?
PRL-8-53 is derived from the combination
of benzoic acid and phenylmethylamine. The chemical structure formed
from the combination of these two compounds results in a compound that
can interact with cholinergic receptors, which are involved in
modulating memory and learning processes within the brain. PRL-8-53 is
also known to potentiate (increase the effect of) dopamine and partially
inhibit serotonin receptors. Dr. Nikolaus Hansl believed that this
effect profile would likely lead to a shift of the balance in CNS
neurotransmitter systems and lead to improved intellectual functioning.
There has only been one human clinical study preformed to evaluate the effects of the drug and it showed an improvement in verbal memory, visual reaction time and motor control, especially in those over the age of 30. Older people tend to be more subject to memory and cognitive decline, therefore, memory and cognitive enhancing supplements tend to work better on them.
