Lions hopes to become the first defensive player to win the MOP since Hall Patterson did it in 1956. The linebacker led the CFL with 143 tackles this season, 50 more than the next-best Bear Woods. Elimimian also forced two fumbles, recovered three fumbles and had one interception. He finished the regular season with five sacks. Elimimian and Woods are the nominees for Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award. Representing the Easts bid for MOP is Toronto Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray, who led the CFL in yards, touchdowns and completions this season. The three-time Grey Cup champion has never won the award. Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish is up for his third straight Most Outstanding Canadian award, representing the West Division. Cornish led the CFL in yards and 100-yard games this season despite missing nine games due to injury. Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive tackle Ted Laurent represents the East for the Canadian award. Laurent recorded nine sacks this season.
