Fuel theft on Golden Goose the rise

Police are reporting an alarming increase in petrol and diesel thefts, with thieves mainly targetting machines and vehicles used in forestry and farming.
Siphoning of fuel tanks has risen sharply, with thieves often taking more than a 1,000 litres at a time.
Diesel is particularly popular, but petrol thefts from cars are also on the rise.
The police Bush Watch division is urging drivers to use lockable fuel caps, and park cars in garages, gardens or at least under street lights.
It is also suggesting farmers use heavy locks on storage tanks, along with lights, fencing and dogs.
Other options for industry include carting petrol to work each day, and using fuel dyes or modified tanks on vehicles.
Police want anyone with information about fuel theft to call Crimestoppers or Bush Watch.
