Anthem's Patch 1.08 brings bug fixes to BioWare's most recent title.Developed by BioWare and published by EA, Anthem was released on Feb. 22 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Players take on the role of Freelancers, adventurers encased in powered exosuits called Javelins to engage in quests to protect the human settlement on an unnamed planet.Anthem has routinely gone through patch cycles, including a day one patch, to address the game's myriad issues uncovered during the beta.
The patch, which rolls out tomorrow morning, will also make loot you earn from an Elysian Cache show up immediately after a Stronghold finishes.Apparently, players should rarely receive loot for javelins they aren't using, but a bug was making it happen more often than intended. "It should be very rare now, if you’re playing Storm you should almost always get Storm components or Universal components," Anderson said on Twitter.
As the 3.5 GB download might tip you off, the Anthem 1.08 update isn’t exactly content-heavy. In fact, BioWare has been working on the fundamentals, namely to stop game crashes. Those on PC should find Nvidia cards being a hell of a lot more stable now, which should make the entire experience just that much smoother. Elsewhere, the kinks are being worked out on a host of issues. The annoying loot drop issue, which saw you being gifted rewards for Javelins you weren’t currently using, has been removed. The missing items from the Elysian Cache are also now back exactly where they should be. Finally, those who were unable to talk to Owen during the denouement of Finding Old Friends should discover that Owen has found his voice again, and should be free for you to interact with. Again, this is nothing revolutionary, but it’s baby steps for a game like Anthem, and this fixes could prove crucial for many a player.
It was a busy week for Anthem news: an eye-opening Kotaku report revealed that the game got a name change just days before its E3 2017 reveal, and that Dragon Age 4 development was rebooted to help fix Anthem. BioWare criticized the report, but studio boss Casey Hudson admitted in an internal memo that the company's problems "are real".
