Raninder Singh, the gregarious chief of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), doesnt break his step as he charges with purpose towards the McDonalds at the athletes village in Rio. Joe Mixon Youth Jersey . Hes just finished delivering a pep talk to the Indian shooting team and suddenly realised that hes famished. These hunger pangs are easily satisfied with a quick snack, but for Raninder and his team of shooters, the next few days offer a chance to devour a record haul of medals.Four shooting medals have been won at the last three Olympics including Indias only individual Gold in Olympic history. No other sport has delivered as many individual medals in Indian Olympic history. Now, with the first competitive shot set to be fired on Saturday, the contingent faces the burden of building on this impressive legacy. We have been doing very well, training well, the government has given us great funding and we have used the resources very well, says team manager Ronak Pandit, a former international shooter himself. I wont say the shooters are under pressure at all. The atmosphere is fantastic, the shooters are very positive, the training results are excellent and we look forward to a great competition. There is little doubt that at least outwardly, no member of the contingent is overawed by the stage. At the official welcoming ceremony at the athletes village on Tuesday, several were seen out and about, posing cheerily for pictures, back slapping fellow shooters and happily mixing with other athletes and a motley crew of journalists. The man drawing most curiosity among them was the spunky Jitu Rai, who is being spoken of in hushed tones as the shooter who can get India off to a sparkling start on Saturday in the 10m Air Pistol.Over the last couple of years, Jitu has been a standout performer. He won gold in the 50m Air Pistol at both the 2014 Commonwealth and Asian Games and a clutch of medals on the World Cup circuit as well. He was the first Indian shooter to secure a spot for these Games and Pandit describes his current form as sublime. Jitu exudes an air of assured confidence and walks around with a cheeky glint in his eye. Pandit credits him for not succumbing to over analysis ahead of the biggest challenge of his young career. The 50m is his stronger suit but on his day Jitu can mix it with the best in the 10m as well. He is ranked third in the world in both events at the moment, establishing his pedigree as among the elite shooters in the discipline.Jitu in fact is one of eight first-time Olympians in the contingent of 12 shooters who have qualified for these Olympics, the most ever for India in history. Besides the Naib-Subedar in the Indian army, two other debutants will be thrown into the deep end on Saturday itself. Apurvi Chandela and Ayonika Paul, both 23, will also be in action in the 10m Air rifle. They completed a memorable 1-2 by clinching gold & silver respectively at the 2014 Commonwealth games but in Rio, but will have no illusions about the the fact that the ferocity of the challenge at an Olympics is on an altogether different level.Of the four shooters with previous Olympics experience - Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang, Manavjit Sandhu and Heena Sidhu - two, Bindra and Narang have clinched podium places. Bindra, who will be the flag bearer of the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony tonight, has announced that his career will end once he completes his event, the 10m Air rifle, on August 8. Narang, who is at his fourth Olympics is set to compete in three different events as he looks to add to the bronze he won at London in 2012. As the the senior statesmen of the squad, it is no surprise that the first timers are gravitating towards them, eager to imbibe all they can to tackle the unique challenges of a high visibility occasion such as this.It shows us that people can survive so many Olympics, says Pandit about the value of having shooters of such eminence in the contingent. Whenever you have an issue, or you are experiencing jitters you can always look up to them and speak to them about their experiences because they have different things to put on the table compared to someone who is shooting for the first time.It has the makings of an intriguing week at the Olympic shooting centre. Since Rajyavardhan Rathore broke a glass ceiling in 2004 at Athens with his Double Trap silver, Indian shooting has been on a steady upward curve. These are set up to be a breakthrough Olympics, one that may well end with what Pandit assures will be the best medal count so far. If that were to indeed happen, one would imagine the boss man of the shooting federation wont settle for McDonalds to have a celebratory meal. Jordan Willis Bengals Jersey . Morales hit an RBI single in the 10th inning, leading the Seattle Mariners to a 3-2 victory against the Los Angeles Angels. It was only the third RBI for Morales in 30 at-bats against the Angels since he was traded to the Mariners in December for pitcher Jason Vargas. Charlie Furbush (1-3) faced only one batter to get the victory, striking out Josh Hamilton with runners at first and second to end the ninth. Rookie Yoervis Medina got three outs for his first major league save. Hamilton grounded into a double play his first three times up and struck out his next two at-bats. The 2010 AL MVP, who signed a five-year, $125 million contract in December, is batting .213 with 10 homers and 24 RBIs in 69 games. "Its hard for me to tell why hes struggling because Ive only faced him a handful of times," Furbush said. "He just working through whatever hes working through to try to get back to the big power numbers that hes had in the past." "I just try to do the things Ive got to do to make myself successful." Kyle Seager sparked the winning rally with a two-out double in the 10th against Garrett Richards (2-4). Morales, who struck out his previous three times up, then lined a 3-2 pitch off the glove of shortstop Erick Aybar to give Seattle the lead. Seattle grabbed a 2-0 lead on consecutive homers by Raul Ibanez and Justin Smoak in the second inning against Joe Blanton. But Mark Trumbo connected in the bottom half, and Albert Pujols tied it with a leadoff drive against Tom Wilhelmsen in the eighth. "There were a couple of guys in the bullpen we wanted to try and stay away from, and Tommy was the guy to go to right there," said manager Eric Wedge said, who got 16 saves from Wilhelmsen in 20 opportunities before removing him from that role. "It was a fresh inning, and we had to send him out there for the next inning, too. We were planning on saving Medina to close, so we couldnt go to him right there." Jeremy Bonderman pitched six innings of six-hit ball and Oliver Perez got three outs before Wilhelmsen yielded Pujols 12th homer on an 0-1 pitch. Until then, right-handed batters were only 5 for 48 against Wilhelmsen, who had not allowed a home run this season in 29 1-3 innings. The 30-year-old Bonderman, who missed the previous two seasons due to injuries and Tommy John surgery, is 1-0 with a sparkling 0.90 ERA over 20 innings covering his last three starts. The Mariners signed him to a minor league contract in January. "When you lookk at the physical shape hes in and how hard hes worked to come back, it was a good guy to give an opportunity to — and it was worth it," Wedge said. Josh Malone Womens Jersey. The Angels, who outscored Seattle 30-4 in the previous three meetings, got their first run when Trumbo drove Bondermans first pitch of the second into the rock pile in left-centre for his team-high 16th homer and first since June 1. It ended Bondermans streak of 14 consecutive scoreless innings, equaling his career best from 2007 with Detroit. Blanton gave up six hits in 6 2-3 innings and tied a career high with 11 strikeouts, following an eight-day stretch between starts to work with pitching coach Mike Butcher on his fastball command. Blanton, whose no-decision left him at 1-10, still shares the major league lead in losses with former Philadelphia Phillies teammate Cole Hamels. He has a 5.62 ERA in his first 14 starts with the Angels after signing a two-year, $15 million contract in December, and has surrendered giving seven home runs during his last four starts. "Throwing strikes is one thing, and commanding the zone is another," manager Mike Scioscia said. "Joe has the ability to throw strikes. Its just making that quality pitch in a good zone that has kind of waivered a little bit in his game, and thats when hes had trouble." Ibanez led off the second with his 14th homer. Smoak, who came off the disabled list Tuesday after missing 18 games because of an oblique strain on his right side, drove the next pitch to right field for his fourth of the season. "It was nice to come back and pop one on the first swing," Smoak said. "I figured hed try to get ahead. He left a fastball in the middle and I put a good swing on it." Smoaks drive landed in the first row above the 18-foot right field wall. Angels manager Mike Scioscia came out to suggest fan interference to the umpires, but the ruling was upheld after a video replay.
