If you are having a problem sending emails on Bigpond you need to apply the following steps:

ØYou need to make changes to your incoming and outgoing server settings.

ØChange your incoming server to pop.telstra.com and port number is 995.

ØChange the outgoing server to smtp.telstra.com and the port number is 25.

ØThe incoming server requires encrypted connection SSL and the outgoing server does not require authentication.
