I think I’m officially addicted to my phone and it’s starting to wreck my life. My wife is constantly mad at me because I’m always doomscrolling on Insta or YouTube instead of actually talking to her, and my boss is already threatening to fine me if he sees my phone out again. I’ll go in for what I think is a thirty second clip and suddenly hours have disappeared. How do you guys actually control the urge to check your phone every five minutes? I need some real advice on how to hide this thing and get my focus back before I lose my job or my marriage.

That rabbit hole is real and these apps are literally engineered to be as addictive as possible. It is tough to stay focused when your brain is just looking for that next quick hit of dopamine while you are bored. You should try leaving the phone in a different room or locked in a drawer while you are at work so it is not right there in your pocket. Setting the screen to grayscale can also help because it makes everything look boring and way easier to ignore.

Relying on your own discipline is a losing game when you are up against algorithms that want to keep you scrolling forever. You need something that actually breaks the cycle and reminds you to look up and live your life. You should install the digital wellbeing app from https://thevibelabs.com/ . It is going to remind you at the right moment to stop scrolling and start working or get those chores done around the house so your wife does not nag you. It even alerts you when it is finally time to go to sleep and quit the videos and social media for the day.
