STARKVILLE, MS. Ken Griffey Jersey . - Facing a 2-0 deficit on the road Friday night at Mississippi State, the South Carolina volleyball team had its biggest rally of the season and downed the Bulldogs (13-13, 4-8 SEC) in five sets, 24-26, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-13. Mikayla Shields and Dessaa Legros combined for 40 kills, and they joined Aubrey Ezell with double-doubles to pull out the win. The victory moves Carolina to 16-7 this season and 4-7 in conference action.1st Set: The opening game was tight throughout, with neither side taking more than a three-point lead in the set. Megan Kirkland served the team up to a 7-6 lead thanks to three straight points and held the 15-14 lead at the media timeout, but Mississippi State took the lead back after scoring five of the next six points. South Carolina rallied to tie the set up at 21, and denied back-to-back set points for the Bulldogs, but could not find the lead again in a 26-24 loss to go down 1-0. Dessaa Legros had five kills to lead the offense, but the Gamecocks as a team hit just .212 in the set.2nd Set: The home side took a commanding lead off the jump in set two, going up 7-2 before South Carolina was able to find its footing. It pared the lead down to just one, 10-9, before another 4-0 for the Bulldogs put them behind the eight ball at the midway point of the game. South Carolina got not closer than four points the rest of the way, finished the set hitting .171, and went into halftime down 2-0 after a 25-20 loss.3rd Set: The Gamecocks earned some early confidence to kick off the must-win third set, taking a 11-5 lead after forcing Mississippi State into six hitting errors. After the home side cleaned up its offense, though, it crept back into the game and soon took the lead at 20-16 after a 6-0 run that was fueled by three straight hitting errors by the Gamecocks. Not ready to pack up and leave just yet, Carolina pushed back with a 7-1 run to take a late 23-21 lead and force the Bulldogs into a timeout. Legros had three more kills of her own on the key run to push her to 11 for the match, and a dump kill from Aubrey Ezell iced the big comeback win to extend the match, 25-22. Ezell performed well in the game, after the team moved to a 5-1 (single setter) offense to start the third. She had a pair of kills and had a hand in a block.4th Set: In almost a carbon copy of the previous frame, Carolina ran out to a big early lead in the fourth. Mikayla Shields served the team to a 3-0 lead and the Gamecocks went ahead 7-2 before Mississippi State closed the gap again to tie it at 11. An ace from Koko Atoa-Williams and a kill off an over pass from Jacqy Angermiller helped Carolina take the 15-12 lead at the media timeout. Two Bulldog points out of the break were quickly wiped out by a 6-1 run from Carolina that put it comfortably ahead 21-15 and it moved to the fifth set with a 25-18 win.5th Set: South Carolina was able to get out for the critical early lead, 5-2, and held on to a two point advantage at the cross over after a kill from Claire Edwards made it 8-6. Mikayla Shields put down her 20th kill of the match and followed with a block two points later to keep Carolina ahead, 10-7.Mississippi State answered back with a 5-1 run from there to take its first lead of the set at 12-11, forcing the Gamecocks into a timeout. After trading points, a kill from Angermiller tied the set up at 13 and put the Gamecocks at the serving line. Angermiller followed up her kill with a huge block on the very next play to put the Gamecocks on match point. As she had done consistently all night, Shields coolly put down her 23rd kill of the night to clinch the improbable comeback. The team returns home Sunday for a 12:30 match against Georgia in the Carolina Volleyball Center. Fans can get in to the match for free when they bring a ticket stub from the football game Saturday. With womens basketball rescheduling its exhibition to Sunday at 1:30, fans looking to attend volleyball will have different parking than usual due to the game at Colonial Life Arena. Parking at the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center is free, and parking in the B Lot will be free up until noon. After that, parking in the B Lot will cost $10. Jose Peraza Jersey . -- Aldon Smith believes he is on the path to being sober for good. Homer Bailey Jersey.  Burris threw two TD passes, including a key 15-yard fourth-quarter strike to Bakari Grant that effectively countered a Toronto comeback bid and led Hamilton to a 33-19 victory. http://www.redsgearshop.com/Reds-Johnny-Bench-Kids-Jersey/ . The Vancouver coach and an announced sellout crowd of 18,910 watched in dismay as the Canucks lost 7-4 to the New York Islanders on Monday night by squandering a 3-0 lead in the third period. While Lane Kiffin was said to be nearing a deal to become Houstons next head coach, the schools board of regents chairman said Friday night that the Cougars never were close to hiring the Alabama offensive coordinator.Tilman Fertitta told KILT-AM in Houston that offensive coordinator Major Applewhite, whom the school promoted to head coach earlier Friday, was a better fit than Kiffin. Fertitta called in to the sports radio show Gallant At Night after he heard the hire being discussed on air.Lane Kiffin did not show me anything that Major Applewhite did not show me, Fertitta said. Sure, hes been a head coach and hes been an OK head coach. But I can tell you this: [Kiffin] was not a safe hire.Asked whether Kiffin was ever close to becoming Houstons coach, Fertitta said: Never. He was no closer than anybody else. Those [stories about him being close] are all put out by his agents, because thats the way they play the game.In response to reports that Kiffin was put off by Houstons desire to put a steep buyout clause in the next coachs contract to make it difficult for the coach to leave after two seasons -- as former coach Tom Herman did in order to accept the head position at Texas -- Fertitta said that wasnt the case and that Kiffin had assured him he would stay at Houston for an extended period if hired. He said Write the contract the way you want it, said Fertitta, who also is a prominent booster for the schools athletic program. Lane Kiffin looked me in the eye and he knew when he sat down at that table that he was going to go with the contract that I put in front of him with the buyout that I wanted in front of him. And we never even got there. The range for the buyout that Fertitta sought was the remainder of the contract at the time the coach leaves. The Houston Chronicle reported Friday that such a buyout will, indeed, be in Applewhites deal. Sources told ESPN on Friday that Applewhite will receive a five-year contract. Financial terms were not immediately available.Fertitta also expressed concern with Kiffins potential offensive and defensive coordinator choices annd lack of ties to the Houston area. Cliff Pennington Jersey. Applewhites familiarity and relationships with Texas high school football coaches and the continuity his hire would provide were major factors in the decision to choose him over Kiffin, Fertitta said. The Texas high school football coaches bombarded our athletic director [Hunter Yurachek] and said: We want our kids to play for Major Applewhite, Fertitta said. Heres a guy thats been on the big stage, he was the quarterback at the University of Texas, he has a great relationship with the coaches and high school football in Texas. Lane does not. That was an X against Lane compared to Major.Continuity in the program, the kids, the recruits today playing wanted Major Applewhite. They let it be known. It was just one thing after another that had steamrolled to Major.Fertitta, an entrepreneur who owns the restaurant corporation Landrys Inc. and is the host of a CNBC reality television show called Billion Dollar Buyer, said he interviewed Kiffin twice and admitted that when Houstons coaching search started, he did not originally intend to hire either of the two internal candidates: Applewhite or defensive coordinator Todd Orlando, who was named interim head coach when Herman left. Applewhite, Kiffin, Orlando, former?LSU?coach Les Miles and current Oklahoma?offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley all interviewed for the job.Ill be 100 percent honest with you. When this started, I thought that we needed to go out and get a name-brand coach, because, to me, its all about brands, Fertitta said. Nobody understands that better than me. And I wanted the University of Houston to stay relevant, OK? I think Les Miles is a fine coach and hes going to be a great coach for somebody, and I think the same thing of Lane Kiffin. I was very impressed. But when I looked at the whole picture and totality, I truly think in my heart -- and so did everybody else on the committee think -- that Major Applewhite was the right fit. Cheap Jerseys Store Wholesale NFL Gear Jerseys From China China NFL GearCheap NFL Jerseys Outlet Jerseys NFL Cheap Cheap NFL Womens Jerseys Stitched Jerseys Black China NFL Jerseys China Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Outlet Cheap NFL Jerseys Camo Camo China NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys 2020 Cheap Jerseys 2020 Discount NFL Jerseys Wholesale NFL White Jerseys Wholesale NFL White Jerseys Wholesale NFL Gear Cheap Jerseys 2020 ' ' '
