World of Tanks takes strategy-minded approach

World of Tanks: Mercenaries players will be able to become toy tanks during the game's Winter Wonderland event that kicks off later today. During the "festive event" players will be party to a free tank giveaway find new Premium tanks receive special gifts during the 12 Days of Tanksmas Ops. The event will run from today through the end of December with tons of fun for all. I reviewed World of Tanks when it came to PC in 2011. Buy World of Tanks Premium Shop I picked it back up on Xbox 360 in 2015. Now not even a year later I’m climbing back into the hatch. This time on PlayStation 4. And yet despite my familiarity World of Tanks still teaches me things about myself. About my impatience to put a good plan into play thereby turning it into a bad plan. About my inability to back down from losing odds. About always fighting that proverbial land war in Asia. World of Tanks has a knack for exposing the worst in me and letting me have a good time doing it.

World of Tanks is about well yeah tanks specifically those of the World War II era. There are no people here alive or dead. There are no limbs to be severed. No decapitations. In fact there is no blood at all just a lot of nice clean tank explosions and buildings being ground to rubble. More important there are amazing victories just waiting to be pulled from the maw of defeat through your mastery of strategy and aim.

World of Tanks: Citadel 2 is a World War II and tank nerd’s dream comic. It is 20 straight pages of German and Soviet tanks blowing one another up and attention is paid towards the real-world tank facts. The Panzers are far more sturdy and powerful than what the Soviets put onto the battlefield. Armor is weaker on the sides. Tank treads can easily be shredded by mines. The gaming industry's hottest trend is now its biggest problem. Consumers and Governments are growing concerned for the microtransaction trend of "loot boxes" in video games. Are these 'virtual scratchies' a dangerous problem for children who game?

Getting killed is serious business however since the annihilated tank is unavailable until the match is over. This prevents you from immediately using a tank that gets destroyed which is a minor pain at times. The upside is that you're free to grab another available tank in your arsenal and dive into a different match in the meantime. It's a mechanic that gently pushed me to experiment with other tanks I was initially less interested in broadening my armored horizons in the process.
