Unique items work in a very similar fashion.

In Path of Exile, you don’t farm trying to find Uniques or Exalted Orbs. You farm a roadmap that has consistent returns of either money or experience. When certainly one of these excellent POE Currency drop, it’s a pleasing surprise. You weren’t expecting or banking onto it, and you also’ve suddenly got a great deal richer. This ‘treasure hunting’ mentality is exactly what keeps me coming back to POE Orbs. I’m always hoping I’ll discover the next Exalted Orb or snag a Unique drop.

Path of Exile’s loot method is overwhelming, specifically new players, but once you’ve got the feet wet, it’s hard to not feel a smaller rush each and every time a good item drops.
