Im fairly new back to OSRS gold and even newer to the subreddit so I don't know if this idea was floated earlier and that I am just flogging a dead horse so to speak but maybe not, I am wondering what people's thoughts are on this?
First off, I really don't know a lot. I have build deployed and designed databases and made API but security wasn't my focus. This isn't to party or to whine, but to out my insecurities to get a discussion going, or clear up my thoughts. So the reason you can not login on both versions with the identical account is due to technological limitations, which sounds idle honestly if there are no safety issues. RuneScape game monitors if you're logged in or not. If you're logged in (on either version), you can not login, which makes sense. Why not keep track of the two OSRS and RS3 logins seperately?
Send which sport version keep tabs on both and you're trying to log onto and that is it, right? I've build these types of items in the past (again, security wasn't my attention ) so unless there are a few significant security vulnerabilities it should not be classified as a"technical limit" and more as it going against prefered game layout / ideology. This might need to log everybody out once (only think of a system update) on both the osrs and rs3, but other which occurs with each system update. Can there be issues with how to make money old school runescape this strategy, besides server load? It could be that Jagex is overly busy and this won't be their priority. I get that that's a thing this is for debate.
