 A man who fired a handgun near Wrigley Field the night the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals to win the National League Division Series in 2015 was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in federal prison. Hoytuan Pierce, 33, fired the handgun about 1130 p.m. Oct. 13, 2015, during an argument with several other people in the 3400 block of North Clark Street, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney's office. While the baseball game had ended earlier that evening Addison Russell Jersey, the area was still crowded with fans. No one was injured.Pierce, of Chicago, left home with a gun the night of the game and went with two female friends to celebrate the victory near Wrigley Field, according to court documents. Clark Street was mobbed with revelers, according to a document filed by Pierce's attorneys.Pierce got into a dispute with three men he thought were members of the Spanish Cobras street gang and took out his gun, hoping it would make them back off, his attorneys said in their filing. Instead, a struggle ensued, and the gun accidentally went off, according to the filing.
